Introduction.

Welcome to the Canada Bay Library.

We, the Readers’ Advisory Team (RA) of Canada Bay Library have created a bibliography blog of ten books of ten different authors. The aim is to introduce resources to boys ages 16 years plus to encourage them to read more and to help them develop a love for reading and learning,   and to help them discover more genres.

The genre of the ten books for this month are:  science fiction with sub genres:  hard science fiction, psychological fiction, bio thrillers, apocalyptic science fiction and science fiction classics, dystopian fiction, literary fiction and multiple perspectives as listed below.

 According to statistics, men and male children, do not read as much as girls because boys do not like reading.   Boys fall behind in their grades in their school literacy.  Boys find reading a waste of time.

Reading should be taken seriously and we should encourage boys to read more to improve literacy and increase learning and for many other reasons:

-Poor literacy /numeracy skills mean less earning power.

-Poor literacy means more likely to have health issues.

-Person could end up living in a disadvantaged area and end up unemployed.
